In this statistics lesson, I use as data the heights of two groups of basketball players. I compare the means of both sets of data and draw a histogram for both. It is clearly visible from both the means and the histograms that the players in one group are taller than the players in the other.
Lastly I compare the difference of the two means to the mean absolute deviation (MAD). In this case, the difference of the two means is significant, as it is about 1.5 times MAD. The lesson addresses the grade 7 Common Core Standards 7.SP.3 and 7.SP4 (Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.)
