Count down to subtract (K/1st grade math)

We learn how to count down to subtract, and how the number line connects with counting down. You can show a subtraction on a number line by using many little "hops" or jumps - one hop per unit, or a longer single arrow. And counting down to subtract is just counting backwards from the starting number, as many steps as the number we're subtracting.
