Decimal place value: thousandths

Our main goal in this lesson is to study decimals that have THREE decimal digits — or thousandths. I show a visual illustration of thousandths using a square that is originally divided only 100 parts. Then we practice writing decimals with three digits as fractions and vice versa.

We will also learn how to write decimals with three decimal digits in expanded form, using a place value chart to help.

This lesson is meant for 5th or 6th grade math.
