Introduction to equations (6th grade math)

I discuss what is an equation (two expressions that are set to be equal), and what we usually do with equations. Students learn what is a root of an equation.

Then we discuss the basic principles for solving equations: you can either add the same number to both sides, subtract the same number from both sides, or multiply or divide both sides by the same number.Lastly, we solve a few simple equations following those principles.
