Drawing geometric shapes with given conditions

In this video lesson, we look at four different drawing problems:

  1. A parallelogram with two angle measures and two side lengths given;
  2. A rhombus with 25-cm sides (using compass and ruler only)
  3. A trapezoid with two angles and the base side given; and
  4. a copy of the given kite.

In each case I also discuss whether the conditions given determine a unique shape or if it is possible to draw lots of different such shapes (that are not congruent).

This lesson matches the Common Core Standard 7.G.2. where students are asked to draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes with given conditions. In the problems in this lesson, I use a ruler, a compass, and a protractor.
